Commercial Castor Oil (CCO)

Commercial Castor Oil (CCO)

Commercial Grade Castor Oil, also known as Industrial Grade Castor Oil, is one of the most widely used and versatile forms of castor oil. It appears as a pale yellow, viscous liquid that is insoluble in water and contains over 87% Ricinoleic Acid, a unique hydroxy fatty acid known for its industrial utility.

This grade is obtained through a combination of first pressing (expeller process) and solvent extraction from castor seeds. CCO serves as a foundation for refining other grades of castor oil such as Refined Castor Oil (FSG, DCO), Pale Pressed Grade, and Turkey Red Oil.

Key Applications:

  • Widely used in the production of textile chemicals
  • Functions as a wetting agent in inks, coatings, and adhesives
  • Acts as a raw material for the synthesis of castor oil derivatives
  • Also used in pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations where industrial-grade quality is acceptable
